Voters approve Arizona medical marijuana measure

By BOB CHRISTIE, Associated Press – 2 hrs 4 mins ago
PHOENIX – Arizona voters have approved a measure that will legalize medical marijuana use in the state for people with chronic or debilitating diseases.
Final vote tallies showed Saturday that Proposition 203 won by a tiny margin of just 4,341 votes out of more than 1.67 million votes counted. The measure had started out losing on Election Day by about 7,200 votes, but the gap gradually narrowed in the following 10 days.
"Now begins the very hard work of implementing this program in the way it was envisioned, with very high standards," said Andrew Myers, campaign manager for the Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project. "We really believe that we have an opportunity to set an example to the rest of the country on what a good medical marijuana program looks like."
Arizona is the 15th state to approve a medical marijuana law. California was the first in 1996, and 13 other states and Washington, D.C., have since followed suit.
The Arizona measure will allow patients with diseases including cancer, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and any other "chronic or debilitating" disease that meets guidelines to buy 2 1/2 ounces of marijuana every two weeks or grow plants.

California Lost the prop 19 recreational marijuana vote 43 - 56 due in part to anxious growers

California had its chance and the smart counties like Santa Cruz, Marin, Sonoma, Almeda, San Mateo, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and San Francisco county have clearly voted YES on proposition 19 at nearly a 65 per cent rate! Wow, what a turnout!

However, The counties that we should have had an even higher yes rate like Humboldt county, Trinity County and Mendocino county failed. About 1 in 3 homes in these counties grows cannabis or profits from Marijuana production, processing and distributing of Medical and recreational marijuana.
Every small business in these counties sees profits from the hard working farmers shopping and contracting the above board services.
In short, without the Cannabis Hemp industry, their shops and businesses would fail.

Expect 2012 Pot Prohibition Vote In Massachusetts

Next month, California voters will consider the biggest change in drug policy since Congress made marijuana possession a criminal offense in 1937.

Proposition 19, if passed, will not just legalize marijuana possession, it will empower municipalities to regulate and tax it. The state Legislature won't be able to stop it. Any community looking to avoid a property tax hike could open up its own cannabis revenue stream.

Medical Marijuana's Tremendous Potential for Curing Ailments

Cutting Through All the Government Misinformation.

If an American doctor of the late 19th century stepped into a time warp and emerged in 2010, he would be shocked by the multitude of pharmaceuticals that today's physicians use. But as he pondered this array ( and wondered, as I do, whether most are really necessary ), he would soon notice an equally surprising omission, and exclaim, "Where's my Cannabis indica?"

Texans Against the War on Drugs

The Resolutions Offered by El Paso's City Council to End Prohibition Are Quashed by Fear of Retaliation by Washington.

El Paso, Texas - In the national debate about the efficacy and morality of the U.S. war on drugs, it is not uncommon for prohibitionists to accuse their opponents of harboring libertine motives. But as opposition to current policy increases in places like this culturally conservative and predominantly Catholic border city, that charge isn't sticking.
